Crispy Tofu Nuggets

Ingredients

(4 servings)

1 pack (300g) tofu
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Pinch of salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or to taste)
2 egg whites
Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Remove tofu from package, wrap in paper towels, and let sit to drain.

  2. In a bowl, combine breadcrumb ingredients: baking powder, baking soda, seasoned breadcrumbs, flour, and salt.

  3. In a separate bowl, prepare the nugget mixture: crumble tofu and add garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.

  4. Whisk egg whites separately and add to the tofu mixture. Shape into nuggets or sticks, or any shape you like.

  5. If the mixture is too soft, add a little more breadcrumb.

  6. Coat the nuggets or sticks in the breadcrumb mixture, then fry in hot oil until golden brown and crispy.

  7. Serve with ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce.

Tips

  • Draining the tofu well is crucial for crispy nuggets. Enjoy!
